The direction of the flow of energy in a food chain is
sun to carnivores
Energy flows through a food chain in a single direction. Sun is the primary source of energy. Green plants absorb sunlight and convert the solar energy to chemical energy through photosynthesis. The energy gets transferred to other organisms through the food chain. Plants that perform photosynthesis are called producers. The energy stored in the plants through photosynthesis is transferred to herbivores that feed on the plants. From herbivores, energy is transferred to carnivores that feed on them. So the direction of the flow of energy is from the sun to the carnivores. Decomposers are organisms that break down dead and decaying organisms.
