Solution

The correct option is B 248.5 pm

Theoretical density of crystal, ρ=nMNoa3 g/cm3

In NaCl crystal, there are 4 formula units per unit cell. So, n=4

a3=nMNoρ=4×58.56.022×1023×3.165

a=(123)(1/3)×(1024)1/3 cm

a=4.97×108 cm=497 pm

Now, in NaCl, Cl ions are present at corners and at face centers and Na+ ions are present at edge centers and body centers.

So, distance between Na+ and Cl=a2=4972=248.5 pm
