Solution

The correct option is A αl3
Given,
Electric field, E=αx ^i

Since, electric field is directed along positive x direction. Therefore, field lines are perpendicular to faces ABCD and EFGH.
At all other four faces field line are tangential. So, net flux passing through these four faces will be zero.

For face ABCD,
x=l
So, E=αl ^i

Also, area, A=l2 ^i

Now, electric flux,
ϕ1=E.A=(αl^i).(l2^i)

ϕ1=αl3 .....(1)

Similarly, for face EFGH,

x=2l

So, E=2αl ^i

Also, area, A=l2 ^i

ϕ2=2αl3 .....(2)

Now, net electric flux,

ϕnet=ϕ1+ϕ2

ϕnet=αl3+2αl3=αl3

So, (a) is correct choice.
