The enthalpy of hydration decreases in going from Li+ to Cs+.
The heat energy released when new bonds are made between the ions and water molecules is known as the hydration enthalpy of the ion.
Smaller the ion, greater is the charge density and hence, more is the extent of hydration. The hydration enthalpies of alkali metal ions therefore, decrease with increase in ionic size. The magnitude of hydration energy is directly proportional to charge and inversely proportional to radius of ion.
