Solution

The correct option is A

11.22km/s

Step 1, Given data

Escape velocity on earth Ve=11.2kms.

Mass and radius of the earth become double

Step 2, Finding the new orbital velocity

If the escape velocity is 11.2 km/s the orbital velocity V0=Ve2=11.22kms

Escape velocity is given as Ve=2GMR

Where, G = universal constant, M = Mass of the earth, R = Radius of the earth

Mass of the earth and radius become half

So, Ve=2GMR,Ve'=2G2M2R=2GMR=11.2km/s

Now, New orbital velocity Vo'=Ve'2=11.22km/s

Therefore the new orbital velocity is 11.22km/s

Hence the correct option is (A) 11.22km/s
