Fertilization is the fusion of the sperm and the ovum. It occurs at the ampulla of the fallopian tube. Various reactions occur during the fertilization process.

Hyaluronidase, present in the acrosome of the sperm dissolves the hyaluronic acid present in the intercellular spaces of corona radiata ( a layer of the ovum), corona penetrating enzyme dissolves the corona radiata and acrosin dissolves the zona pellucida (layer of ovum).

At the point of contact with the sperm, the egg forms a projection, termed as the cone of reception or the fertilization cone which receives the sperms. This happens because of changing of the vitelline membrane to the fertilization membrane. This prevents the entry of other sperms after fertilization. So the correct answer is A.
