The floor of a rectangular hall is 24 m long and 18 m wide. How many carpets, each of length 2.5 m and breadth 80 cm, will be required to cover the floor of the hall?

Length of floor = 24 m = 2400 cm

Width of floor = 18 m = 1800 cm

Therefore, area of floor = 2400 cm × 1800 cm = 43,20,000 cm2

Now,

Length of carpet = 2.5 m = 250 cm

Breadth of carpet = 80 cm

Therefore, Area of carpet = 250 cm × 80 cm = 20,000 cm2

So,

No. of carpets required =432000020000=216 carpets
