When acids react with base, they neutralize each other and at equivalence point even a single drop of excess of acid or base leads to a sharp change in pH.

Equivalence point is the point where equivalent weight of acid has reacted with equivalent weight of base and thus leading to neutralization reaction along with formation of salt and water. Hence, the pH of the solution tends to be 7 (in case of strong acid-base reaction) at the equivalent point.
