Democracy has emerged as the most popular form of government in recent decades. Democracy expanded throughout the 20th century. United States adopted Universal Adult Franchise in 1965. It made democracy inclusive and truly representative in nature. But, Democracy did not spread evenly throughout the world.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an international organization created for the purpose of standardizing global financial relations and exchange rates. There are 189 state members in IMF. But out of all these members, not all members are democratic. Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, etc. are not democratic.
There are five permanent members of United Nations Security Council – China, France, Russia, United Kingdom and United States. China is not a democracy. The Chinese Communist Party has a monopoly on political power. United Kingdom is also not only democratic, but also a “constitutional monarchy”.
