The following table shows the recording of the outcomes on throwing a 6-sided die 50 times. Find the experimental probability of:

a) rolling a three; b) rolling a number less than three; c) rolling a two or five.

a) rolling a three
It’s given that a dice is thrown 50 times.
In subpart ‘a’, we are asked about the probability of rolling a 3.
Total number of outcomes = Number of times the dice is rolled
Total number of outcomes = 50

From the given table, we can see that 3 appeared 10 times, as the frequency of 3 is 10.

Total number of favourable outcomes = 10
P(Rolling 3) = 10/50 =1/5

b) rolling a number less than three
Total number of favourable outcomes = 6 + 11 = 17
So, P(Rolling a number less than 3) = 17/50

c) rolling a two or five.
Total number of favourable outcomes = 11 + 9 = 20
So, P(rolling 2 or 5) = 20/50 = 2/5
