(a) Breakdown of glucose molecules to generate energy in the presence of oxygen is called aerobic respiration. Glucose gets completely oxidized to form a $C O_{2}$ and $H_{2} O$ as the end product along with $38 ATP$ .

(b) Breakdown of glucose molecules in the absence of oxygen to generate energy is called anaerobic respiration. Glucose is incompletely broken down to form ethyl alcohol along with carbon dioxide and $2 ATP$ .
