This is a case of incomplete dominance. After cross between two individual with contrasting traits, the F1 comes up with a different phenotype. And when F1progeny are crossed with each other, the F2 progeny comes in 1:2:1 ratio phenotypically as well as genotypically.
In the given example, the F2generation, 14 are purple (PP), 24 are violet and 14 are white fruit producing plants.
