The gain factor of an amplifier is increased from 10 to 12 as te load resistance si changed from 4kΩ to 8kΩ Calculate (a) the amplification factor and (b) the plate resistance.
Voltage gain =μ1+rpRL
When A = 10
RL=4KΩ10=μ1+rp4×103⇒10=μ×4×1034×103+rp40×103+10rp=4×103μ
When A = 12
RL=8KΩ12=μ1+rp8×10312=μ×8×1038×103+rp=96×103+12rp=8×103μ
Multiplying (2) in equation (1) and equating with equation (2)
⇒2(40×108+10rp)=96×103+12rp⇒80×103+20rp=96×103+12rp⇒8rpp=16×103⇒rpp=2×103Ω=2KΩ
Putting the value in equation (1)
40×103+10(2×103)=4×108μ⇒40×103+20×103=4×103μ⇒60=4μ⇒μ=604=15.
