(a) The level of mercury in the glass tube has risen.
(b) Transpiration pull has caused the change in the level of mercury.
(c) The flow of water from the soil through the tissues of the plant to the evaporating surfaces is driven by a certain force. This force is called the transpiration pull.
(d) (i) It helps in absorption of water.
(ii) It helps in absorption of minerals.
(iii) It helps in the conduction of water in the plants.
(e) The glass tube represents the xylem.
