(a) The aim of the experiment is to demonstrate transpiration.
(b) Oil has been put to prevent evaporation of water from the surface water.
(c) The level of water in test tube A will fall but there will be no change in the level of water in test tube B.
(d) The change in the water level of test tube A takes place due to absorption of water by roots.
(e) The test tube B is taken to demonstrate a control experiment showing that water is lost from the plants by transpiration.
