The given solids are made up of small cubes of side 1 cm. Which of these solids are formed of more number of small cubes?

Open in App
Solution

We know volume of cube = side × side × side
Volume of the bigger cube = 8 × 8 × 8
= 512 cu. cm

Volume of the small cube = 1 × 1 × 1
= 1 cu. cm

Number of small cubes used to make the bigger cube = 512 ÷ 1
= 512

We know, Volume of cuboid = length × breadth × height
Volume of the cuboid = 16 × 8 × 4
= 512 cu. cm

Number of small cubes used to make the cuboid = 512 ÷ 1
= 512

So, we see that same number of small cubes are used to form both the cube and the cuboid.
