Solution

The correct option is C A-Mammals, B-Amphibians
The Earth has varying environmental conditions that organisms need to adapt to in order to survive. Organisms deal with the changing conditions of the external environment either by maintaining a constant internal environment at all times, i.e, homeostasis, or by conforming their internal environment to the changes outside.

On this basis, organisms can be classified as regulators or conformers.
  • Regulators - Organisms such as mammals and birds that can maintain homeostasis are called regulators. If we look at ourselves, our body temperature remains constant whether it be winter or summer. This is because we use the energy generated through metabolism to maintain a constant body temperature.
  • Conformers - Conformers are organisms that cannot maintain homeostasis. E.g., plants, amphibians, etc.
