Step 1: Given information:

The weight will be the same at a certain height as it will be at a certain depth below the earth's surface.
A body's weight can be calculated by multiplying its mass by the acceleration it experiences as a result of gravity.

W=mg

Step 2: Formula used and draw the required diagram:

Regardless of location, the body's mass is constant. As a result, since the body's weight should remain constant, the value of the acceleration caused by gravity should also remain constant.

Now the acceleration a body experiences as a result of gravity when it is elevated above earth's surface,

gh=gR2R+h2...........................1

And the acceleration of a body caused by gravity at a certain depth below the earth's surface, or depth,

gd=g1-dR

Note that the weight of the body equals some height and the depth, so

gd=g1-hR..........................2

Step 3: Formula used and substitute the values in the formulagd=gh

Since the body's weight should remain constant, the value of the acceleration caused by gravity should also remain constant.

Therefore from the equation (1) and (2).

gR2R+h2=g1-hRR2R+h2=1-hRR2+h2+2hRR21-hR=1

Cancel out common terms and solve ,

1+h2R2+2hR1-hR=1-h2R2-h3R3+hR=0-hRh2R2+hR-1=0h2+hR-R2=0

Step 4: Solve the quadratic equation:

h2+hR-R2=0h=-R±R2+4R22×1h=5R-R2

Therefore, The height from the earth's surface where the weight will be equal to that at the same depth is5R-R2.
