Question

The height of a water tank is 7m.In this 5,50,000 litres of water is filled then find the diameter of this tank

Open in App
Solution

the water that can be filled in a tank is the volume of the tank(pls understand this cocept)
as the diameter is given we can assume that the shape of the tank will be cylindrical
volume of a cylinder is equal to base area* height
base area=base area of circle=3.14*r*r
where r=radius=diameter/2
diameter=2r
so the volume of the tank is the amount of water which is equal to 550000 litres
we know 1 litre=0.001 cubic metre
550000 litre=550000*0.001 cubic metre=550 cubic metre
so
3.14*r*r*h=550
as height is equal to 7m
3.14*(r^2)*7=550.....................(iam using r^2 for r square due to inability of my keyboard)
r^2=550/(3.14*7)=25 m square
r^2=25
then r=5 metre
diameter=2*r=2*5=10 metre
