Solution

Seismograph, an instrument that makes a record of seismic waves caused by an earthquake, explosion, or another Earth-shaking phenomenon. The tremors produce a wave on the surface of the earth. These are called seismic waves. This instrument record those waves.

Seismographs are equipped with electromagnetic sensors that translate ground motions into electrical changes, which are processed and recorded by the instruments’ analogue or digital circuits. Seismic waves are divided into two types: body waves and surface waves. Body waves include P (compressional or primary) waves and S (transverse or secondary) waves.
