The length and breadth of a rectangle are in the ratio 4 : 3. If its perimeter is
154 cm, find its length and breadth.

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Let suppose that length of rectangle is 4x and breadth of rectangle is 3x.

Now, Given that perimeter of rectangle is 154cm.

We know that,

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length+breadth)

So substitute values in this to find length of rectangle and breadth of rectangle.

Substituting value in formula :

Perimeter of rectangle = 2( length+breadth)

=> 154 = 2(4x + 3x)

=> 154 = 2×7x

=> 154 = 14x

=> x = 154/14

=> x = 11

Hence the length and breadth of rectangle are :-

  • Length of rectangle = 4x = 4×11 = 44cm
  • Breadth of rectangle = 3x = 3×11 = 33cm
