The length of a park is $8$ metre more than its breadth. If area of park is $240m^2$, then find the length and breadth of a park.

Let the breadth of the park is $x$ and the length is $x+8$.

Area of the park $=x\times (x+8)=240$

$\Rightarrow x^2+8x-240=0$

$\Rightarrow x^2+20x-12x-240=0\Rightarrow (x-12)(x+20)=0\Rightarrow x=12(\because x\ne -20)$

$\therefore$ breadth of the park $=12m$ and length $=12+8=20m$
