Solution

The correct option is A

25 cm

Let the width of the original rectangle be x cm.

its length = 2x5 cm

Length is decreased by 5 new length = 2x5 5 = 2x10 cm

Width is increased by 2 new width = x+2 cm

Perimeter of the new rectangle = 74 cm

2×(x+2+2x10) = 74

2×(3x8) = 74

(6x16) = 74

6x = 90

x = 15

Length = 2x5 = (2×15)5 = 25 cm
