Question

The length of a rectangular field is 23 m more than its breadth. If the perimeter of the field is 206 m, then its area is

(a) 2420 m2 (b) 2520 m2 (c) 2480 m2 (d) 2620 m2

Solution

length be X
Breadth be Y

According to the given question,

length=breadth+23
X=Y+23
Perimeter=206
2(X+Y)=206
2(Y+23+Y)=206
23+2Y=103
2Y=80
Y=40
X=40+23=63

now area =XY=40*63=2520 m2

(b)  is the correct answer.
