Let the length of the diagonal be d and sides of the rectangle be a and b

Thus, $d^2=a^2+b^2$

${40}^2={24}^2+b^2$

$1600=576+b^2$

$1024=b^2$

$b=32cm$

Length of longer side $=32cm$

Perimeter of rectangle $=2(a+b)$

Perimeter of rectangle $=2(32+24)=112$ cm
