Since the line 3x - 8y = 2, passes through the point (k,5),

Substituting x =k and y = 5 in the given equation we get:

3k - 8(5) = 2 [1 Mark]

=> 3k - 40 = 2

=> 3k = 42

k = 14 [1 Mark]
