In fluid mosaic model of plasma membrane, phospholipids are arranged in bilayers and proteins are embedded in it. The polar hydrophillic heads of the phospholipids lies towards the outer sides of the bilayer and the non-polar hydrophobic tails lie towards the inner side of the bilayer.
