So, chloride is TiCl2 l=0⇒1s,2s and 3s for titanium ⇒3×2=6 electrons and 1s, 2s and 3s for chlorine ⇒3×2×2=12 (for two Cl atoms)and l=2⇒3d for titanium ⇒2×1=2. So total electrons =6+12+2=20
