Solution

(i) The M\marketing manager Mr. Majid Shaikh may have set quantitative standards by setting sales targets for both the employees Asif and Anand.

(ii) The quantitative standards do not consider whether Asif and Anand can efficiently and equally achieve the targets set by Mr. Shaikh as Asif is an average worker while Anand is efficient.

(iii) Firstly, Mr. Shaikh will not be able to avoid the differences as these differences need to be controlled at an organisational level. Even at the organisational level, controlling will be an expensive affair for understanding and determining specialised skills and expertise of Asif and Anand. Secondly, the targets are set in terms of numerical values that do not consider qualitative features like human interactions, employee morale etc. and realistically set Asif's and Anand's targets. Thus, the differences cannot be avoided by controlling by Mr. Shaikh or the organisation all three work for.
