Question

The Maximum kinetic energy of photoelectron ejected from a metal is x when it is irradiated with radiation having a frequency twice the threshold frequency. If the frequency of the incident radiation is doubled, what is the maximum kinetic energy of the photoelectrons would be affected?

Solution

Let, threshold energy be E,
Initially, incident energy was 2E.
Now, incident energy is 4E.
(KEman) finally =3E=3x.
[(KEman) initially =E=x (Given)]
Man KE becomes triple.
