The mean of 12 numbers is 40. If each number is divided by 8 what will be the new mean of new numbers ?

Mean of 12 numbers =40
Let The 12 numbers be x1,x2,x3,.....,x12
x1,x2,x3,.....,x1212=40
x1,x2,x3,.....,x12=40×12=480(i)
Now, when each number is divided by 8 then new set of 12 numbers is
x18,x28,x38,.....,x128
So, new mean =x18,x28,x38,.....,x12812=x1,x2,x3,.....,x128×12=48096[usingi]
Hence, new mean =5.
