Total quantity of mixture=16litre

since milk and water is in ratio 5:3

Quantity of milk is=$\frac{5}{8}\times 16=10litre$

Quantity of water is=$\frac{3}{8}\times 16=6litre$

let the milk to be added to make the mixture in ratio 2:1 be y

total quantity will be 16+y

after adding milk quantity of milk will be=10+y

amount of water will remail the same

As per problem,

$\Rightarrow \frac{10+y}{6}=\frac{2}{1}$

$\Rightarrow 10+y=12$

$\Rightarrow y=2litre$

2 litre of milk has to be added to make the mixture 2:1.
