Solution
Fractional distillation is a method by which a mixture of two or miscible liquids having boiling point less than 25oC is separated.
Miscible liquids are those liquids that intermix together and form one layer, for example, ethanol and water, shampoo and water, acetone and water.
The mixture of ethanol and water are miscible liquids and they can be separated by fractional distillation because the difference between the boiling points of ethanol and water is less than 25∘C.
