Solution

Instructions: Write about the different ideologies of the Moderates and the Extremists in terms of their medium of protest.

Solution: The Moderates and the Extremists did differ in terms of their ideologies. The Moderate Leaders, like Dadabhai Navroji, Surendranath Banerjee, Gopalkrishna Gokhale, and Firozshah Mehta, etc. believed in acquiring political rights through constitutional means. These leaders believed in prayers and petitions and adopted a moderate attitude. They built the foundation of national awakening by bringing about unity among the educated middle class, and attracted the attention of the Indian youth.
The Extremists, such as Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Bipin Chandra Pal, on the other hand, wanted to acquire self-rule, not as a favour but as their right. These leaders followed the policy of aggression and revolution.
