The muscular layer present in the wall of the heart is called as__________
Wall of the heart is made up of three layers namely outermost pericardium, middle myocardium and inner endocardium. The pericardium is the outer, fluid filled, protective layer made up connective tissue. The middle layer, the myocardium is made up of cardiac muscles and is responsible for muscular, pumping action of the heart. This layer is thicker in ventricles than in atria. The innermost layer, endocardium, is thin and made up of endothelial cells. It lines the chambers of the heart, covers the valves and is continuous with the endothelial lining of larger blood vessels.
