Solution

The correct option is C

m=12,n=2

Step 1: Given data

Externalresistance=3Ω

Internalresistance=0.5Ω

m×n=24(1)

Step 2: To find

We have to determine the values of m,n

Step 3: Calculating m,n

When equivalent resistance is equal to external resistance of 3Ω, the current is maximum.

For maximum current in circuit:

Totalresistance,R=0.5mn

3=0.5mn

m=6n …(2)

After solving the equations (1) and (2) to get the values,

6n×n=246n2=24n2=4n=2

By substituting the value of n in equation 2, we get

m=6×2=12

So,

m=12,n=2.

Therefore, option C is correct.
