The Okazaki fragments in DNA chain growth:
polymerize in the 5' - 3' direction and explain 3' - 5' DNA replication
The lagging strand is the DNA strand that is synthesised in the 3' - 5' direction but the nucleotides are added in the 5'- 3' direction. Therefore, the DNA of the lagging strand is synthesised with the help of RNA primers which are placed at regular intervals and short DNA fragments are synthesised in the 5' - 3' direction. These fragments are called as Okazaki fragments.
