The organelle that is known as the 'Post office of the cell' :
The Golgi apparatus is known as the post office of the cell. It is responsible for packaging, modification and transport of proteins. Linear proteins formed in the endoplasmic reticulum are packaged into vesicles and transported to the Golgi apparatus. Here, proteins are folded and other groups are added to the protein to make it functional. Once made functional, proteins are transported to their respective locations.
