Let the metal oxide be 100g.

Weight of oxygen will be 32g.

WO2=32g

So, the weight of metal will be 68g.

WM=68g

EW=WM×8WO2=68×832

Now, Equivalent weight EW=weight of oxideweight of O2×8=WM×8WO2=68×832

EW=544/32=17

So the equivalent weight of oxide =17.
