Oxides such as BaO2 or Na2O2 contain peroxy linkage (O−O) and thus when they are reacted with dilute H2SO4, they give H2O2. Thus, when BaO2.8H2O+O2 is reacted with dilute H2SO4, following reaction takes place:
BaO2.8H2O+O2+H2SO4 BaSO4+H2O2+8H2O
