Open in App
Solution

Let length of rectangle is L and breadth is B
Perimeter = 40
2(L+B) = 40
L+ B =20 ......(i)

Length of the rectangle is 4m less than 5 times it's breadth
L = 5B - 4 ......(ii)

Put value of L from (ii) equation to (i) equation
L + B =20
5B - 4 + B =20
6B =24
B = 4
L = 5B - 4 = 5*4 - 4 = 20 - 4 = 16

Therefore length is 16 m and breadth is 4 m
