Breadth of the bigger rectangle
= 2 $\times$ side of square

$\therefore$ Perimeter of the bigger rectangle
42 = 2( Length + Breadth)
42 = 2( 7 $\times$ side of square)
( 7 $\times$ side of square) = 21 cm
side of square = 21 $÷$ 7
= 3 cm

Area of square = side $\times$ side
$\therefore$ side $\times$ side
= 3 $\times$ 3
= 9 cm²
