The correct option is D 9 cm2

Length of the bigger rectangle
= 5 × side of square

Breadth of the bigger rectangle
= 2 × side of square

Perimeter of the bigger rectangle
42 = 2( Length + Breadth)
42 = 2( 7 × side of square)
( 7 × side of square) = 21 cm
side of square = 21 ÷ 7
= 3 cm

Area of square = side × side
side × side
= 3 × 3
= 9 cm2
