The presence of a hymen is the indication of virginity, while its absence means the reverse. Discuss the authenticity of the statement in the light of modern understanding of the female reproductive system?

Solution

The hymen is a thin tissue that surrounds or partially covers the external vaginal opening. It forms part of the vulva, or external genitalia, and is similar in structure to the vagina. Hymen can break naturally also due to any physical activity. Hence the presence or absence of the hymen is not an indicator of virginity.
