Solution

Plants require water and other nutrients in the soil for the process of photosynthesis. To pull the water and minerals, the root of the plants have a mechanism through which a pressure is created within the roots which assists the transportation of water and minerals in the upward direction into the vascular tissue known as the xylem. This pressure generated is known as root pressure.
