Solution

Step 1: Given data:

Price of TV including GST=Rs.13,407

Initial rate of GST=9%

New rate of GST=13%

Step 2: Calculate the marked price:

Let the marked price be Rs.x.

According to question;

x+9%ofx=13,407x+9100×x=13,407109100x=13,407x=13,407×100109x=12,300x=Rs.12,300

Step 3: Calculate extra money paid by customer:

The new price for TV is computed as,

Newprice=Markedprice+13%ofMarkedpriceNewprice=12,300+12,300×13100Newprice=12,300+1,599Newprice=Rs.13,899

Calculate the extra money paid by the customer.

Extraamountpaid=13,899-13,407Extraamountpaid=Rs.492

Hence, the marked price of the T.V. is Rs. 12,300 and the customer has to pay an extra amount of Rs. 492 if the GST increases to 13%.
