Solution

Sale price of T.V.set = Rs. 13,407
Rate of sales tax = Rs. 9%
Let marked price of T.V = x
Then sale price
= x+x×9100=100x+9x100=109x100
109x100=Rs.13,407
x=13407×100109=Rs.12,300
Marked Price = Rs. 12,300
In second case, Sales Tax = 13%
Amount of sales tax = Rs. 12300×13100
= Rs. 1,599
Sale price = Rs. 12,300 + 1,599 = Rs. 13,899
Difference between the two sales price
= Rs. 13,899 - Rs. 13,407 = Rs. 492
