Solution
Definition of GIFT:
In Gamete intra fallopian transfer (GIFT), the ovum from a donor female is transferred to the fallopian tube of another female who cannot produce ovum but can provide the suitable environment for further development.
Fate of ova transfer into the uterus:
Fertilisation of ova and sperm occurs in the ampullary region of the fallopian tube.
Hence, ova needs to be transferred to the fallopian tube and not the uterus to achieve fertilisation.
Sperm transfer into the uterus:
The male gametes are motile and can move towards ova to fertilise. Hence, male gamete can be transferred to the uterus as in case of IUI (Intrauterine insemination) or transferred to vagina as in case of AI (Artificial Insemination).
