Fehling's solution oxidizes aldehydes to acids. But ketones are not oxidized by Fehling's solution as they do not contain a hydrogen atom directly attached to the carbonyl group.
The hydrolysis of compound P gives a ketone acetophenone which is not oxidized by Fehling's solution.
On the other hand, the hydrolysis of the compound Q gives an aldehyde which is oxidized by Fehling's solution. Hence, the product of acid hydrolysis of P and Q can be distinguished by Fehling's solution.
