The ratio between speeds of the S and T is 3:5, and therefore S takes 9 minutes more than the time taken by T to reach the destination. If S had walked at double the speed, in what time would he have covered the distance?
11 min 15 sec
Ratio of speeds of S and T = 3:5
∴ Ratio of time = 5:3
S takes 9 min more.
5x - 3x = 9 min⇒ x = 4.5 min
S's time = 5 × 4.5 = 22.5 min
S covers the distance in 22.5 min, if its speed is `5x'
If his speed is doubled i.e. 10x, then he will cover the distance in 11.25 min
=> 11.25 min = 11 min 15 sec
