The ratio between the number of passangers travelling by 1st and 2nd class between the two railway stations is 1 : 50, whereas the ratio of 1st and 2nd class fares between the same stations is 3 : 1. If on a particular day, Rs. 1325 were collected from the passangers travelling between these stations by these classes, then what was the amount collected from the 2nd class passangers ?

The correct option is D Rs. 1250
let the number of passenger in 1st class=x
The number of passenger in 2nd class=50x
Fare of 1st class =3y
Fare of 2nd class=y
then
3xy+50xy=1325
53xy=1325
xy=25
then amount collected by 2nd class passenger=50xy
50×25=1250rs.
